This summer the PLAY's the thing with Summer camps at The Studio!

Your child’s imagination will take the spotlight at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Each week, kids will explore Shakespeare’s language, create characters, jump into stage combat and clowning and learn confidence and creativity before creating a final staged presentation. Taught by professional educators and practicing artists, campers will meet new friends in a fun, playful environment. This summer, CSC's Studio has two exciting offerings. Summer at the Studio: Full-day, week-long, in-person camps for summer of 2026. Each week will focus on a different Shakespeare play, while still covering specific aspects of theatre such as performance, design, crafts, and combat. Weeks 7, 8, and 9 are divided into two separate camps: one for ages 7-10 and one for ages 11-14. Summer at the studio runs June 16–August 22, 2026. Teen Mechanicals: a dynamic Shakespeare ensemble designed for teens ages 13–18 who are ready to take creative control and bring the Bard to life—their way. This isn’t your average Shakespeare class. In this ensemble, young artists are in the director’s chair, the designer’s seat, and center stage. They will take on King Lear from the ground up, shaping the vision, setting, style, costumes, and characters exactly how they imagine them. Weekly, Mechanicals will learn from guest artists and have the opportunity to work on our professional outdoor production, The Tale of Cymbeline, in Ellicott City. With guidance and support from our spectacular teaching artist Caitlin Rogers, students will explore Shakespeare’s language, themes, and characters while learning how to collaborate, experiment, and trust their instincts as theater-makers. This is the perfect opportunity for bold, curious, and creative teen actors to take risks, make big choices, and have a ton of fun with Shakespeare. Open to students ages 13-18. Teen Mechanicals runs June 27 - July 25, 2026.
